CHILD ADVOCACY NETWORK CASE STUDY

The Child Advocacy Network provides collaborative intervention services to child abuse victims so they are able to embrace a future driven by hope. The organization approached Write On Fundraising about leading its $8.9MM capital campaign in 2019 after having previously launched and ended a failed campaign using another consulting agency. Serving well past their maximum capacity, standing on the precipice of a pandemic, and responding to an Oklahoma Supreme Court ruling that would forever impact its service delivery model, the organization had no room for failure.

Interview with Maura Guten, CEO of Child Advocacy Network

The

Challenges

  • Raise nearly $9MM at the height of a pandemic and with skyrocketing inflation and construction costs

  • Prove to donors why the new campaign was more fundable than the first

  • Improve donor relationships and bring lapsed donors back into the fold

Our Approach

Using the feasibility study as a “donor goodwill tour,” our team worked alongside key staff and volunteers to carefully craft the right campaign message and meet one-on-one with donors. After weeks of work, the study showed that not only did the new campaign identify our minimum threshold of 60% of the campaign goal, but indicated we could raise as much as 113% of the goal. The messaging was powerful. The relationships were healing. It was time to raise the funds.

The Results

  • Within nine months of the start of the private phase, we had raised nearly 70% of the original campaign goal

  • By the end of the campaign, the total raised was nearly $13MM
